I see this all the time. The sports anchors on ESPN are the absolute worst for this. I know this joke has been done many times, many ways. But you know what? It annoys me enough that I felt compelled to do it anyway.

I am SO with you on this one, Poe! It literally drives me crazy when people do that! (And the worst thing is that when you literally mean literally, literally nobody ever believes you because it is literally always misused.)

I agree with poe the frequency I hear the word literally being used has just caused it to not even sound like a real word anymore to me

You know, when someone says/posts, ‘____ drives me literally crazy!’ I’m always reminded that in the definition of crazy, the literal form of the word they’re using means mentally deranged and aggressive. Unless they are violently insane from ‘____’, that person is using a figurative sub-definition of crazy……
I try to be on guard around these people, just in case they understand proper english.
Yes, the worst case scenario is that they mean EXACTLY what they are saying.
